I love to paint the harmony and peace of God’s creation. I find the essence of God’s perfection in watching my children play in a forest glade or gazing out to sea, and try to convey this in my paintings. The innocence of children, combined with a sunny day and the natural surroundings, I feel, is like piece of heaven.

I like to play with the paint, without getting too involved in the details, trying to capture the essence of my subject, be it the joy of children watching with eager anticipation or their curiosity in their surroundings. My paintings depict a nostalgic reminder of childhood. Sunsets are always a source of inspiration, which I think, are like a window into heaven, God’s daily painting in the skies. Sunsets also take me back in time to when I used to paint sunsets from the top of my Dad’s shed roof in Africa.

I intend my paintings to be symbolic of life; in each painting I see a different sphere of life, with God and His light ever present in our daily lives. Though we pass through many dark shadows, the shadows only serve to enhance the brightness of God’s light and we can see His hand in our lives even more brightly. And by painting children in my compositions, confirms what we have to become to enter the Kingdom of God.
