The
phrase ‘we are God’s work of art’ [Ephesians 2 v10] gives me
hope, and I have great delight in painting light and colour, as
you will see from my website.
Recently
I have felt called to paint a series on Mary of Magdala, based
on St John 20, and gradually the pictures are emerging.
Painting
helps me still down and rest in the presence of God, and my way
of praying is through silence.
Often,
however, there are times when I am just unable to
pray…especially when sudden disaster hits… and then I discover
that painting can become prayer for those involved.
I have
been amazed to see the joy communicated by the Spirit through a
painting, or the depth of coloured light shining through etched
glass, and on Quiet Days and Retreats I have seen people come to
a deeper awareness of their faith through creative artwork on a
spiritual theme.
These
joyful glimpses seem like hints and guesses on the way forward…
