‘It was
the combination of having fine art teachers at school and an
upbringing that was influenced by poetry and religion that drew
me to calligraphy. As a child I visited ancient sites and
churches with my parents. Through this experience I saw the
importance and beauty of words. I have always been fascinated by
the inscriptions on tombs and headstones. The art of calligraphy
goes back many centuries and I particularly like medieval and
Celtic styles.’
‘Everyone
has a favourite verse, quotation or simply a few words that mean
a great deal to them personally. I like to express myself
creatively through art by designing and painting words of
dedication.’
‘I love
working from home and appreciate the support of my family.
Putting a visual interpretation on the words that inspire or
comfort people is an emotional experience. I love the challenge
of being presented with a quotation or words and using them to
create a new piece of art.’
